Making Jelly

We have been learning how to do procedural writing in Room 5 this term . It has been lots of fun because we have been able to make lots of interesting things to write about. We found it difficult at first to make our instruction really clear and have all the information in them so that people could replicate what we had done but after lots of practise we think we are doing a pretty good job now.

MAKING JELLY

On the last day of Term 3 Room 5 had a challenge where we had to build the highest tower. We were allowed 20 straws and one paper clip and our finished tower had to balance a marble on top. We started off very enthusiastically but soon realised it actually wasn't as easy as we first thought! We had to work in groups and some of us did this better than others, but this is something we will work on : ) It was alot of fun and in the end George, Rikki-Dean and Rikesh were the winners with T.K., Isaiah and Soni (with a bit of help in the end by Dayton) coming in 2nd place. I wonder how big you could make a tower??

In Room 5 we have been learning about animations. We had a look at a few different types and then thought of a basic storyline of our own. We then created a basic animation using google slides. We would love to know what you think. Remember this is our first go : )

Project Island Song

Room 5 were lucky enough to be able to take part in the Floating Classroom last week. We got to go out to the islands and find out about the amazing work that Project Island Song have been doing to bring back native birds and plants to the islands. We have an amazing adventure and when we came back we researched some of the birds and made slides of some of the activities we participated in.
